About Us

Our Program

Jr SeaWolves, Inc is a non-profit 501c3 organization that was developed

to provide our area a high-level, year round training program for committed baseball athletes. This program is for athletes that excel in rec or little leagues, love baseball and are looking for more commitment to the spot. Our coaches do not look for "studs" or "divas". We work with blue collar, hard working athletes and families that are passionate about the game.

The  Jr SeaWolves work directly with our community partners in the Erie area to provide the best resources possible to teach youth athletes the fundamentals of the sport and help get them ready for the next level of the game. This starts with a focus on quality experience and positive coaching. Even at the highest level of competition, the  focus will be on training in a positive environment that develops players according to their skill sets and age groups.  We believe that our baseball teams can be used to teach valuable life skills to our youth that will teach them to be leaders on and off the field and become the best versions of themselves possible.

Our Facilities and Training Equipment

With our partnership with the Erie Sports Center, our Wolves Den training facilities are at the Oliver Road location which includes the indoor sportsdome, a new outdoor field and access to the AHN strength training facility.

We also work with community partners to help host tournaments and offer additional baseball training. This allows our team and organization to operate in central location and create one, strong culture for all of our teams similar to a University sports program.

Our teams are constantly helping improve facilities at the Erie Sports Center as well with our local community partners.

Coaches

Our coaches are part of the Erie Sports Center family and are commissioners and representatives of the Erie Sports Center baseball programs. All of our coaches are volunteers that promote coaching athletes in a positive and fun environment. We believe in winning but this is not life and death. Players and coaches will make mistakes and it is how we respond to mistakes that show our character.

Each coach will have their own style but the overall culture of teaching the skills and building a team  in a positive environment will be integral to each teams.

Head coaches will have access to some of the best facilities and resources in the area through the Erie Sports Center. The Erie Sports Center baseball program has developmental connections to Erie SeaWolves,  Gannon University as well as the local high schools and colleges.

Our coaches are certified by USA baseball and are screened according to standard background checks.

Playing Time and Positions

Playing time and positions are at the coaches discretion. These coaches will always put the players development first and each player develops at their own pace. Players development occurs first in practices. Travel teams do not rotate every position similar to rec or little league teams. This is because travel teams will be shifting, working cutoffs and running certain defenses that are unique to a players skill set. During tournaments there may be very little rotation depending on the team and the bullpen being used for the tournament.

Our coaches also understand that players develop differently through their youth and need to know different positions as they develop.  In this level of baseball the athletes typically have 2 or 3 positions that are best fit for their skill sets. This takes time for coaches to develop and players and parents must understand that coaches will not put underdeveloped players in positions where they can have teammates or players "turn" on them. Our coaches will always put the players development first. As players get older they may become pitchers only or focus specifically on one position.

In-season and Off-season commitment

We believe in multisport athletes and during the offseason our teams will hold practices. Offseason practices are  mandatory to attend once a week and coaches may add additional specialty sessions for athletes that cannot attend standard scheduled sessions. All offseason practices are focused on building skills, having fun and keeping team chemistry together.

During the season (late March through August) coaches will increase to have multiple events per week. This could include 2-3 practices during the week and a tournament on the weekend.

Our coaches will do our best to set schedules as soon as possible for in-season and off-season training to help all parents. However tournaments and certain league games may fluctuate times based on weather, field availability and other circumstances outside of the organizations control.

Community Activities

We believe in building a stronger community through baseball. Throughout the year, the Jr. SeaWolves will host events that promote growing the sport of baseball in our community. These will include skill sessions, clinics and other fun baseball centric activities. Our coaches are expected to be involved in these events when time allows and we also expect our parents to help with these events as well. These events are times that we can give back to the community and show our kids that power of community service.
